I was reading Color Me Katie’s Blog and I saw a $2 Bill in one of the photos. I immediately got a smile on my face. Firstly, the number two is my favorite number. Secondly, I loved finding a $2 Bill as kid. Tomorrow I think I am going to go to the bank and get $20 in $2 Bills so that I can casually spend them around town

Domain Transfer and stuff
June 6th, 2010 § 0
Well, it has taken me the better part of 9 hours today to repair the sites database and figure out how to get it all up and running after transferring domains. Yahoo was getting to be a pretty awful domain. Still, it has taken a few day to get things going, but I think the majority of everything is up here. Haha, its like 10 years worth of blogging. There were some peripheral photo sites too, but I will get to them sooner or later. Getting this done with the whole job application process and everything else that has been going on has been pretty intense. Right now I am super tired. I’ll QC the site later and upload some stuff I’ve been meaning to get up soon. peace.
New York, New York
May 20th, 2010 § 0
Today was our first whole day in New York. Miguel and Kim got in really late, about 2 am. I had some ravioli and tea reayd for them. I had gone to Costco earlier that day after checking into our apartment. I tugged everything back on the subway in my carry on luggage
. Today Miguel and I went to whole foods to get some of he smaller items for dinner and lunch. We decided to rent an apartment so that we could save money by making our own food. We got up and made a failed attempt at hetting rush tickets for wicked. Then we went back to our place and made some sandwiches. Afterwards we wandered around New York city.
Here is a photo of one of the lions in front of the New York Public Library.
Here is a photo of the place we are staying. The door is in between Chipotle and he Mexican food place, on the fourth floor on the right, facing the street.
Here is a photo of the dinner we made at our place. Lemon Ginger Mahi Mahi, grilled veggies and mashed potatoes.
After dinner we went to Kyotofu, a Japanese desert place. I had Matcha Green Tea Creme Breule.
On our walk back we went through Time Square in the evening.
So much fun!!

Train, Planes and Automobiles
May 14th, 2010 § 0
Well I am on my way to Baltimore to see my friend Tiffany. Google maps kinda screwed me on how long it took to get to the train station and what time the train was leaving, so I had to chase the train from Lancaster to San Fernando and nearly missed that train after hitting every other red light and a mentally handicap man standing in front of my car lookig at me. I got there with two minutes to spare. While waiting for my bus to arrive I spoke to a nice black woman named Lorna. She was a school teacher with LAUSD who commuted on the train to and from work. We talked about her job and her pink slip, my travelling and her past travels. We also talked about why there was a whole kiwi in my pocket. I told her about the raw food diet I was on with my friend and recommended she give it a try. I made my way to my bus and somehow got lost in the two whole blocks away it was and found myself on the side on a freeway on ramp in the dirt with all my luggage. I don’t know how that kind of nonsense keeps happening to me. Well I made it on the bus and am on my way to LAX now. Hopefully Ianage toake it the rest of the way there without incident. Time for one of those avacados in my carry on. Peace.
Update: As in was watching and episode of Pushing Daisies on the bus I heard an explosion, which was our tire. We happened to break down on La Cienega where they had closed off almost all the streets of build a Metro Link over pass. After much walking through traffic and construction in the middle of he night Sarah managed to find me and save me. I am going to keep my mouth shut now.
Project Pact
April 12th, 2010 § 2
Well, the weekend is over and it is time to show the results of my Project Pact with Nicole. She did a super amazing job, which can be viewed here. I decided I wanted color all around. Simple, happy color. First, the colors…
Having a sufficient amount of color, I got my pens, my scissors and my tape and got to work. I decided I’d just listen to my top rated playlist and get to work.

Here I am cuttings circles. I didn’t know at that moment what I wanted to do with them, but I knew I wanted lots of them of different sizes. I made sure to stop for a cup a tea every now and then.
As I was cutting circle after circle I noticed the playlist had stopped…because it ended…all four and half hours of it. I also became aware that I was on my second pot of tea. I switched to an 80s Dance station on Pandora and got back to work. This is my first project of this type. I had NO IDEA how long it would take. After a weekend of work here are the results!
I put squares of solid color at the head of my bed.
West Wall
I took my words down and made frames for them and put them back up with my newly framed art.
I took all the circles and made my door polk-a-dot! Very fun!
I am not sure what all this is about, but it is colorful. Maybe something about rain making rainbows. I made like 200 rain drops but ran out of tape. I plan on putting the rest up when I get more tape, add a handle to the umbrella and maybe putting flowers at the bottom. But it’s way fun!
I finally got the print of the pigs my friend made me framed and put up. Here it is with the rain. Well, now that my room is sufficiently brightened up I can take a rest and get back to work on the bathroom. peace.
Finger Paint Friday
April 10th, 2010 § 0
I have declared this weekend Arts and Crafts weekend. Nicole and I were talking online and decided we would do something colorful with paper.
While wandering around Michaels I was compelled to make it into a weekend! First order of business was finger painting with my nephews Daron and Kyle. Here were are painting with our fingers! (Mind you, they are about two)
(video can take a minute to load)
Here are the master pieces. Two by Daron on the left and two by Kyle on the right. Daron made a third on his belly, but it was a temporary medium. Mine is off to the right. I hope someone wants a finger painting in the mail!
Next it was time to frame a couple of things I have been meaning to frame for like years… Frames were 40% off at Michaels and they cost like nothing. First I framed my woodblock print of “The Bamboo Cutter’s Daughter.” It is an illustration (from top left in circular motion counter-clockwise to top right) of the Japanese Fairytale of “The Bamboo Cutter’s Daughter.” I printed a couple of the fairytale and taped it to the back of the frame if anyone is over and ever wants to read it.
Next I took a break and ate some of the amazing carrot cake Bethany and I made from scratch yesterday. Great recipe if anyone wants it.
After the snack I trimmed and framed my woodblock prints of the four seasons in Tokyo. I put them all in the same frame and will rotate them as the seasons change; it is currently on the spring print. I am thinking of hanging it in the bathroom once I finish remodeling it. Then I can change out the towels with corresponding seasonal colors!!!!
Finally I framed my 1940 copy of LIFE Magazine. The entire issue is dedicated to the U.S. Navy. I picked it up in Maryland and always thought it would be neat to display. I found a nice simple frame I really liked. Now I can hang it!
As I drank my millionth (like 12th) cup of tea I got to read the two amazing post cards my friend Tiffany sent me from her travels. Our friend Joanna insisted she send me the “Ship Shape” one as well for shits and giggles. Success, it is more cheesy and tacky than I could have ever wished for
The image is sideways because I do not know why. All in all a fun day! Tomorrow I will do some more work on the bathroom and maybe get into the paper. peace.
